Burials are a way for people to honour and commemorate the lives of their loved ones who have passed away. There are several different types of burials, each with their own unique characteristics and benefits.
At W J Beswetherick and Son, we are able to support you with a range of burial options including:
- church burials,
- graveside burials,
- woodland burials,
- natural burials,
- green burials.
We also have the experience to support multiple faiths.
While church and graveside burials are a more traditional approach, we are seeing an increase in interest for a more natural or environmental approach.
Woodland burials are burials that take place in a natural setting, such as a forest or park. These types of burials are becoming increasingly popular as they allow loved ones to be laid to rest in a peaceful and natural environment. In a woodland burial, the body is usually placed in a biodegradable casket or shroud, and then buried in a shallow grave. The grave is typically marked with a simple wooden marker or tree, rather than a traditional headstone.
Natural burials are similar to woodland burials, but they are usually more focused on the environmental impact of the burial. Natural burials typically involve the use of biodegradable materials, such as wicker or bamboo caskets, and the body is buried in a natural setting without the use of embalming fluid or other chemicals. This allows the body to decompose naturally, returning to the earth in a more environmentally friendly way.
Green burials are also environmentally friendly, but they are more regulated than natural burials. Green burials typically take place in special cemeteries that are specifically designated for this purpose. Green cemeteries use only biodegradable materials, like wicker or bamboo caskets, and the graves are not marked with traditional headstones. Instead, the graves are usually marked with a tree, bush or wildflower. In addition, embalming is not allowed in green burials.
We are able to support in these locations:
- Penwith Woodland Burials, Penzance, for woodland burials,
- Wildflower Meadow, Penmount Crematorium, Truro, for natural burials.
